About John

John D Hickman is a fast-rising star whose friendly and amicable nature on set is in stark contrast to the sometimes fearsome characters he plays.  From werewolves to killers to oddball waiters, Hickman embodies each character in an uncanny way, bringing his unique life experience to each role.

Hickman had always had an interest in acting, but it wasn’t until he won the opportunity to play a part on “True Blood” that he realized it was the path for him.  His first scene on the show turned into several more, and soon he was a part of Joe Manganiello’s “wolf pack” (which led to the thrilling opportunity to work with live wolves in Season Five ).  Roles on CW’s “The Originals and “The Vampire Diaries” soon followed.

Film work includes the upcoming Pierce Brosnan starrer I.T., in theaters September 23, as well as James Franco’s King Cobra, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year.

He is also involved in several other projects with Franco, all of which will be announced shortly.

Additional films include the horror/thriller Black Water Wilderness and faith-based drama The Fight Within, both of which were shot in Hickman’s hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he still resides.

With his ever-expanding body of work and high-profile projects, Hickman is poised to become one of Hollywood’s go-to character actors.
